The new year has begun and many of us have spent the last several weeks searching for appropriate gifts to give people we value and care about. Start The New Year With The Gift Of Your Presence
January 13th, 2011Everyday Heroes
November 18th, 2010When Luis Urzúa Iribarren bowed from the waist at the webcam in the mine, I felt tears welling up. Some of you might have noticed that Luis was the last of the Chilean miners lifted up to safety after the 69 day ordeal. Fear keeps us from acting
March 18th, 2010In my last newsletter and blog I wrote about courageous leadership. The feedback from many of you was very positive and several of you via email expanded on the topic to discuss what keeps us from acting in tough situations. So what keeps us from acting with courage? Simply put, it’s FEAR – Fear that we’ll make a mistake or worse yet fail, fear that we’ll look bad or fear that we will never recover from the consequences of our actions.... read more
What’s Courageous Leadership?
February 25th, 2010Leading with courage involves overcoming our own fears, apathy or feelings of hopelessness as we pursue a course of action that we believe is right. It is the ability to handle events in the moment and not recoil when the going gets rough. Courage is the ability to face difficulty, uncertainty or pain without being overwhelmed or being knocked off course by external factors. The word courage comes from the French meaning, to give heart. Leading courageously gives “heart” or encouragement to others. Today’s times require courage – the courage to pursue your dreams, to lead others, to be the very best “you,” you can be.... read more
