Cecelia Wooden, Ed.D.
Dr. Wooden specializes in leadership (individual and team) development, organizational change and culture, strategic planning and meeting facilitation. She is dedicated to helping strengthen healthcare leadership and building a leadership pipeline through professional development training, qualitative and quantitative methodologies. Her clients include Catholic Health Initiatives, Middle Tennessee Medical Center (Murphreesboro), William Beaumont Hospitals, University Hospital (at the University of Alabama, Birmingham), the American College of Healthcare Executives, the American Cancer Executives, Las Vegas Veterans’ Administration Hospital, Thompson Cancer Survival Center (Knoxville), Clark Memorial Hospital, Pascack Community Hospital, Jewish Hospital Healthcare System, Fostoria Community Hospital, Enloe Medical Center, the Community Hospital of the Monterey Penninsula, Brown-Forman Distillers, and Daimlier-Chrysler, among others.
Cecelia has extensive management background acquired during her 23 years in senior and middle management positions in education and non-profit organizations. She has held middle management positions in public education in Scotch Plains (NJ) and Andover (MA). In higher education, she has held the senior management positions of associate professor of education (Bradley University, Peoria, IL) and Assistant Provost (Bellarmine College, Louisville, KY). She has recently concluded her two-year tenure as the Curriculum Chairperson of the Kellogg Foundation-funded national leadership program, Leadership USA, a program of the National Association of Community Leadership.
Cecelia has conducted executive team building and department head change management workshops for academic medical centers, community hospitals, Veterans Administration facilities and large healthcare systems. She has presented at the American Cancer Executives and VHA conferences on the issues of leadership styles and performance incentives for commitment. Cecelia was featured in two VHA television programs focusing on recruiting and retaining high performers. She has numerous articles published, including those in Healthcare Executive.
Cecelia attended Trenton State College (B.S., health and physical education) and Montclair State College (M.A., educational psychology). She completed doctoral studies at Illinois State University (Ed.D., curriculum/research).
